IMHO the real reason is to push people to buy new hardware, especially laptops. Microsoft will graciously allow you to keep older drivers if they're first installed in build 1607 or earlier, otherwise it silently blocks their install or if you try a manual install it will lie to you with a BS "error" about not being able to find a file. If I could even find the zip archive of that driver I suspect the only way to make it work is to install Win 10 build 1607, update to build 1903, then 20H2. ![]() got Miracast functional with HD 4000 - but that's 2017 and we all know Microsoft has been doing some downright *despicable things* when it comes to support for older drivers, supposedly for "security". I found a post on Intel's forum from 2017 that manually installing from the zip version of driver version 10. So how to make Intel give me back Miracast? The nVidia GPU can be activated on demand by apps and games or manually forced on for a particular app or game that for some reason doesn't automatically use it.
